Destruction / Creation was a performance in Laing’s Union, on 19.02.1981 by Horobin as The Principal Player, accompanied by the Dundee band Boo Hooray, and photographed by Stewart Sutherland. The strongly symbolic approximately 30-minute work included a series of actions by Horobin (a painting graduate from DJCAD) in which the artist attempted to break free from academic conventions before ripping his diploma into pieces, which he gave to the spectators.
