DATA communication. The Festival of Non-Participation was a 'de-centralised' and 'open-door' event across Scotland co-ordinated by Pete Horobin. "The non-participant is a person who instead of participating within the normalities of consumerist society chooses to revolutionise his/her life by engaging in the non-participation correspondence project." Some of the information included in documents at the University of Dundee Archives have been also published in Variant Magazine (Issue 5, Autumn, 1988 pp. 24-25). Apart from artists in Scotland, two neoist from Baltimore, tENTATIVELY a cONVENIENCE and Laura Trussell came to the festival and spent a month in Scotland. They lived on the roof of the DATA Attic and made performances in DRCU, Dundee, Transmission, Glasgow and High Street, Edinburgh. All this is also documented in the Archive.
