‘Vaudio Weekend’ was part of the Festival of Non-Participation (a decentralised festival across Dundee and Glasgow celebrating alternative culture, co-ordinated by Pete Horobin as part of his residency at the Dundee Resource Centre for the Unemployed). The weekend invited people to non-participate in the watching of teevee & film industry movies & create their own entertainment. tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE (visiting the DATA Attic from Baltimore) was keen to participate in this event because the term ‘vaudio’ was part of his lexicon describing his own productions. He and his partner Laura Trussell stayed in the DATA Attic for a month, camping on the roof & participating in the rigorous completion of DATA sheets that required the twice daily taking of internal measurements such as temperature, blood pressure & urinalysis. In addition to spontaneous external actions, there were experimental collaborations indoors – such as a complex installation in the Mark Pawson room involving projections, mirrors, video monitors and VHS colour reversal techniques.
